The loss of a loved one

The loss of a loved one
Is always hard.
We ask ourselves,
Why, why them;
Why did they have to die?
Was it god’s will,
Or just fate….

But we must not dwell
On that we cannot undo.
Life goes on
And although our loved one has departed
The memories will never leave our mind.

Memories are a precious gift
Left to us by those who loved us most.
As time goes by the pain
For the departed will ease
And be replaced by the gift they left us…..
The gift of eternal love.

The inner demon

Fade away into the night,
Take with you your blinding light.
You are a stranger, I don’t know.
Your strange site,
It scares me so.
Why is it that you can’t show,
Your true self amongst the lies.
The family ties,
That keep you hear.
It’s your other self that keeps you near.
You aren’t the one who needs to be,
What can I do to set you free.
We are two of one,
But this can’t be.
Because when I’m you,
I can’t be me.
You are a storm that lies within.
Dormant you wait,
To commit a sin.
The face without a name,
A hidden agenda,
To silence your fame.

Take me away

Take me away from all the mess,
Keep me sane
I need my rest
I need to sleep
I have to work
I’m like a clock
I cannot stop
I think
I hear
I see
I need a place where I can be me.
Life is tough
Will it always be
I work so hard
On just being me.

Time to say goodbye

To reflect upon one’s life
Is not an easy task
For many things may happen
With many questions asked.
As we achieve so very much
We think about the past
And ask ourselves if the memories
Fresh in our minds will last.
For as we approach the end
Of a chapter in our lives
We must always hope
The spirit in our hearts survives.
It is up to us now
I hear the teachers’ say
It is time to get serious
About work and study, not play.
Yet what they do not realise
Is that the child within our hearts
Is the drum that keeps us going
Allows us to play our parts.
The spirit of survival
That lies within us all
Is like a judge and a jury
That allows us to rise and fall.

So don’t let us get off track
And help us on our way
For as the end approaches
Hold my hand and pray
And tell me that forever
Friends we will always stay.
For we don’t want to say goodbye
And become one of many
We don’t want to play our part
Or make a new fresh start.
We just want to stay
The way we’ve always been
The heart, the soul, the spirit

N.B – Written for my class at the end of year 12.

A songwriter’s words

I can think what I feel.
I can say what feel.
I can write what I feel.
But I cannot sing,
Another’s feelings.
A songwriter’s words,
are his emotions.
His notes are his feelings.
I cannot sing,
And deny that artist
of what he really feels.
Music is art.
And art is an outlet for one’s thoughts.
Therefore to sing anothers’ song
Is to try and mimic their passion.

Confidence

I tell my friends to have confidence,
To believe in what they do.
I tell them that they are the best,
Better than the rest.
Although I tell them this
It is something that I lack,
For confidence in myself,
Is something I want back.
I try to tell myself
That I can achieve all the goals I set,
But to believe in myself,
Is something I forget.
I’m a nobody in this world,
I want to make my mark.
But then I sit back and wonder,
Wonder, where on earth do I start.
I have so many ambitions.
But where do they go from here.
My friends say to go for it,
It falls upon deaf ears.
When people put me down
I try to ignore what they say.
But the comment won’t go away.
And I end up believing,
Every word that they relay.

So…….No matter who you are,
Or where you want to go.
As long as you have dreams and goals,
That’s all you need to know.

You may come across a hurdle,
You think you cannot jump.
But as long as you have confidence,
There’s nothing that can stump.

For winner’s are created,
From the belief in one’s self.
That all they can do is there best,
Even if sometimes life,
Really puts them to the test.

There are people who will love you
No matter what you do,
Because throughout life everyone makes mistakes,
Even if they don’t mean to.

Nobody is perfect,
In every single way.
But those who make things happen
And believe in what they say,
Will turn out better people,
And come out on top each day.

Dreams

Do you ever sit back and wonder,
What life really means.
Sometimes I believe,
It’s just a bunch of goals and dreams.

When you set out to achieve something,
Do you ever wonder why?
Or do you ever wonder if your hopes and dreams
Can only go so high?

But there is more to life then wondering,
I suppose you just have to wait and see.
What happens along the way,
Leave it to chance as they say.

Although sometimes one can’t do that,
If their paths already set.
Their world is a prewritten book,
In which a new life they cannot get.

But how do we know,
If what we’ve done is right?
Should we always have,
New goals and dreams in sight?

What everyone must remember,
Is that we all make mistakes.
No one is perfect
And sometimes our lives we must remake.

Things will not always happen,
Just the way we plan.
But what we all must remember,
Is that to get anywhere in life;
You must believe that you can.

When one is young,
Their goals and dreams will change.
And for this very reason,
Their priorities often rearrange.

Though one must never lose sight,
Of what they know is right.
Ambition is an essential role,
Just don’t let it take control.

Success is not measured
By the amount of rings you have on each hand,
Or if you have a large house,
Where your backyard is beach and sand.

No success is measured,
By happy you are
and what sort of life you’ve lived.

Your goals and dreams are important
But not as important
As love, fun, family and friends……

The Mirror

When I look into the mirror,
I don’t see what other see.
I see someone fat and ugly,
Then realise it is me.
Are they just lying when they say,
That looks don’t really matter.
Or does it only mean,
That they’ve seen others fatter?
I often have to wonder,
What it is guys really see,
When they look at girls
Such as you and me.
Do they think
Oh wow she seems nice!
And mean, “look at that chest”.
Or do they think, “oh she seems nice”,
And think a chat they must request.
I sometimes wish that I
Could read the other sexes mind
And begin to discover the mysteries of man and womankind.
However what I am afraid of,
Is that I may want to kill.
The closest male to me,
Or begin to take the pill.
For I know no one is perfect,
And this I’ve come to see.
As I come to discover,
Elle McPherson I will never be.

Alone

Life’s not suppose to be easy,
But it’s not meant to be this hard.
All around me I see people in love.
While I have no one.
No one who cares.
No one wants to know.
There’s a place in my heart for the one I love.
But he doesn’t feel the same.
It’s not fair,
All around me are lovers.
While I am lonely.
I need someone to care.
To show me the tenderness,
That I have never known.
To know that someone needs me.
I am lost in a world,
A world of confusion
And loneliness.

Leaving

When you walked out of my world,
I thought the pain would never end.
Like a shadow in the bushes,
You’d appear then transcend.

You were like a precious diamond,
That sparkled all day through,
And your love I thought was true.
But I didn’t mean as much,
As much as I loved you.

You left me for another love,
That is what hurt most.
But then you went around,
And had the gall to boast.

You hurt me how,
How much you’ll never know.
How much I cried,
I nearly died,
You hurt me so,
The day you had to go.
