A male’s embrace

A male’s embrace whether it be that of a father, friend or lover is a unique quality. I miss its strength, its tender embrace of friendship and love. It is a void within my identity. A flaw within my limited existence. For all I know of male empowerment is the pain it brings as it engulfs your heart, devours it and throws it away, like a piece of unwanted trash.

When you are away

When I am down
And need to cry
I wish you’d hold me close by
And whisper in my ear
To tell me you are near.
I need to know that you love me
I need to know that you care
And that no matter what
You will always be there.
I can’t go through life alone,
And with my father never around
You are my stable ground.
The time we share is never enough
And sometimes I think
You couldn’t give a stuff.
I love you more than words can say
Please never, ever go away.
Tell me you are here to stay
And that you’ll take more time
To listen, to love and to learn
About what goes on in my world each day.
For I don’t think it’s fair
That we should have to pay
For the time you spend away.

Childhood crush

My eyes they are wide open
And my love for you is true.
Which is why I am so blinded
By the feelings I have for you.

From the moment we first met
I knew it was to be.
But you were not so sure
About the love you had for me.

I told you that I liked you
And you didn’t know what to say.
You were the one I needed
From the beginning of the play.

But my heart it was still broken
From a prior friendship had.
You could not give the love I needed
And because of this I was sad.

The friendship we agreed upon
Was what we thought was right.
But we both found a love inside
That neither of us could find.

Some would say it’s childish
You can’t love at such an age.
“It will be over in a week”
I say love does not have a gauge.

Now a life without you
I cannot imagine.
My heart will always love you
With the deepest heartfelt passion.

So if ever you are lonely,
Or life’s a little bland
I will always be close by,
To lend a helping hand.

Various – Love Verses

Love can take many forms. It is a kaleidoscopic emotion.

————————————————————————————

The love of another individual is one of the most powerful and prominent emotions of all.

——————————————————————————————

Love is like a spider’s web. With care it is carefully woven into perfect harmony and symmetry, each thread symbolic of a new bridge or link that is formed to make the fragile creation whole. Yet one false move or interference can make the web collapse.

The other woman

In our lives,
We must have hope.
But when we realise our love is fading,
You find you can’t survive.
For when you want something bad enough,
You hope you will achieve it.
However sometimes it’s not meant for you,
But someone else.
How can this be you ask yourself?
It was only meant for me.
To see you with someone else,
Just breaks my heart in two.
For I sit here and realise,
Realise that I still love you.

You were the one I always wanted.
But your love for me did die.
And like your love for me,
I want to do the same.
I cannot sit back and watch my dream,
Disappear into space.
For the hurt is just too great.
Every time I think of you and her
My heart, it skips a beat and I run out of breath.
It is too hard to fight a battle,
You know you are going to lose.
As losing my hope and faith,
Is something I don’t choose.

Happy Birthday

I tried to find a card,
To tell you how I feel
To tell you that I care for you,
And what I feel is real.
You are a special person
A friend in every way,
You are a unique individual,
Who I care for more each day.
The moment I first spoke to you
I knew it was to be.
As we sat upon the mountain
And in the stars I could see.
A different kind of sparkle,
A sign from high above.
It floated in the wind,
The message of friendship and love.

So on this very special day,
I just wanted to say
To have heaps of fun
And happy 18th birthday.

N.B – Written for my now husband 🙂

For my unborn child

You are but a seed
A tiny glimmer of hope
An underlying need
A piece of string without the rope.

You are what I long for
And for us it takes so long
But when we finally get there
You will be greeted with a song.

I was told by the beyond
That you would come my way
But that I had to be patient
And persist with life each day.

As I watched those around me
Achieve what I wanted most
My burning desire within
Was delivered by a ghost.

For I am thankful everyday
For the gift I grow inside
The gift of a small life
Which my smile cannot hide.

For you will be here soon
And we can’t wait to meet you Grace
For your mummy and your daddy
Eagerly await your tiny face.

N.B – After three failed IVF attempts I fell naturally with my beautiful daughter Grace. I wrote this for her before she was born.

For my cousin

You are the person I can count on.
The one who really cares.
You are the person I can talk to,
When everyone else just stares.
From the moment you were born,
Friends we were to be.
A special bond was created,
Of friendship, love and hope.
This special bond has developed,
And helped us both to cope.
For as we reach an age,
Where time is of the essence.
We cannot always rely,
On each other’s presence.
However no matter how little time,
Or distance that lay between,
Or how long it has been
Since each other we have seen.
The special link of cousins,
And especially that of friends,
Will forever grow stronger,
Throughout life’s many bends.

So no matter where you go,
Or who you meet along the way.
The promise I give you,
Is that friends we will stay.
For if ever you are lonely,
Or life’s a little bland.
I will always be close by,
To lend a helping hand.

For my grandparents

Our love has a unique quality.
You are not my age,
Yet when I need someone
You are there.
When I do something wrong,
You are there to guide my actions.
You have watched me bloom,
Like a rose in spring
Helping me grow and mature.
You have cooked for me,
Taken care of me
But most importantly,
You have loved me.

Many people enter and leave my life,
Yet you will always remain
Two of the most prominent people in my world,
In body and spirit.
I feel lucky
And honored
To be able to say.
You are my grandparents.

The play of life

Life is a play,
The play of life.
A world of actors,
Trying to impress.
We struggle,
We fight!
To reach the top.
But we don’t all get there.
What do we do?
Do we give up?
Nothing’s fair.
Life is a sacrifice.
We give,
But we don’t receive.
